Logic--Both Malibu and Avalon ( Catalina) are near and dear to me. My first trip to Catalina was in 1945, and I've been going there ever since--every summer (except for army duty) ever since. We has our own mooring, so we would often leave our boat there and fly back and forth on sea planes, then helicopters and then the Express Boat...saved a lot of fuel expense.--Yachts typically get about one-half mile per gallon, our last boat was pretty good -- burning about 52 gallons per hour!

As for Malibu, my Dad had a real estate office next to the entrance to the Malibu Colony, so we were out there a lot. I got my first surf board from one of the homes Dad had for sale in the Colony. Red Allante

Ok i'll try going there in november. I love cali beaches. I just been from virginia beach...simple, fun, ideal for families, it's pretty conservative beach, nice

Tupac--Malibu extends for many miles--much of it is private--but there are plenty of places to get on the sand and swim. The Malibu Pier is where the Southern California board surfing began and there is a nice size public beach next to the pier to enjoy with your family. Paradise Cove has a restaurant and a pier--Many TV programs have been filmed on this beach--also good for your family--Red Allante
