I have an adventure for you! If you want to really experience the California Coast & Beaches, it is time for a road trip. Starting from Leggett in Northern California down the 1 to Dana Point in Southern Cal. or start south to north...this drive is incredible. Long, windy, but very beautiful. It takes you most of the way on the water's edge, through Fort Bragg, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur, Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara, Malibu, Laguna Beach, to Dana Point...then it turns into the I-5 south. There is a cool book from the "Lonely Planet Road Trip" series... Called "California Highway 1" You can find it at most chain bookstore, ie Borders. or click on: www.lonelyplanet.com They have other books in the series too. I have this one. Plus I have been on the HWY 1 several times. It is fun & takes time to do, as it isn't an Indy 500 road.
