It was once the place where after 30 plus years following his death in the 1970's the plane once parked in a gigantic dome next to the Queen Mary cruse ship (now a museum/holel resort today) for all of the world to visit before it's departure after Disney sold the great airship to EverGreen in Washington State in the early 1900's after threatening to saw the wonderful part of aviation history for firewood.Ok enough remembering about the past just sharing my thoughts about my idle with the Beach Forum viewers.
I also remember taking a bunch of friends on my boat to LB to watch the "FINAL" voyage of the Queen Mary...where it now rests and is used as a hotel. That day was spectacular as everyone on boats had to navigate away from the QM so as to not collide--lots of planes and helicopters overhead--regrettably our pictures were lost...but our mrmories live on--Red Allante
The Spruce Goose was sold and ended up in at the Air Museum in McMinnville, Oregon...Southeast of Portland... They built a huge facility for it. So it is safe & sound.
